Shyft Technologies has recently announced a new integrative partnership with JDA Software, Inc. in order to optimize workforce scheduling through the use of mobile devices. Through linking the mobile-first employee engagement tools offered by Shyft with JDA Workforce Management, retailers can further leverage mobile connectivity to engage frontline workforces.

The joint solution integrates JDA Workforce Managements scheduling and labor forecasting capabilities with Shyft's mobile-native platform. The combined technology allows workers to post shifts they’d like to get covered and offer to cover team members’ shifts. They can also receive scheduling updates on their mobile device, direct message coworkers and access their schedule on Shyft’s dynamic mobile calendar. Research conducted by Shyft indicates the tool reduces absenteeism and removes scheduling inefficiencies for managers. Shyft's solution also provides record-keeping functionality that supports Predictable Scheduling compliance.

Customers are asking for functionality such as push notifications, geo-fencing and instant messaging, combined with sophisticated scheduling algorithms, forecasting and time and attendance tools, says Chris Pitchford, VP of Workforce Solutions at Shyft. JDAs comprehensive workforce management back-end, fully integrated with Shyft's mobile-first front-end, creates a powerful combination that meets the needs of today's hyperconnected workforce.

The JDA-Shyft partnership seizes a significant opportunity to further optimize mobile capabilities for workforce management that will benefit companies looking to engage todays mobilized workforce. Today's workers are increasingly mobile-enabled, especially with the rise of Millennials and Gen Z in the workplace. The intuitively-designed Shyft mobile app is attractive to those workers, as proven by high organic adoption, consistently high ratings in the App Store, and via Shyft's deployment with national retail brands.

Giving store associates a sense of autonomy and ownership over their schedules not only boosts engagement and satisfaction, it reduces an extra layer of complexity for store managers scheduling their teams shifts on a daily basis, said Jim Prewitt, Group Vice President, Product Management with JDA. By integrating Shyft into JDA Workforce Management, we are capitalizing on the way we all interact today “ via mobile. We look forward to rolling this integration out to our joint customers.

The partnership also addresses an industry opportunity to replace outdated communication methods used by associates, such as phone calls, group texts and social media platforms, with an efficient mobile solution. By facilitating schedule changes with Shyft, companies can increase worker flexibility, which drives employee engagement and retention and ultimately drives higher conversion rates.

This integration makes JDA an official member of Shyft's Alliance Partnership Network.
