Short-term Rental Platform Sonder Goes on Leadership Hire Spree

January 13, 2021

Short-term rentals took a hit this year due to the pandemic. Travel plans were cut short, canceled, and all but stopped. A number of companies within the sector couldn’t cope and ended up shuttering their doors. But Sonder was not one of them.

After a rocky 2020, short-term rental marketplace, Sonder, is reinforcing its offerings with leadership announcements.

The current CFO, Sanjay Banker, is being named the President of the company to help oversee growth, which includes a major expansion in its headquartered market, Montreal.

Satyen Pandya is joining the company as the first CTO. Pandya joins from Flexport and has experience working for WeWork and Amazon.

Joining from InterContinental Hotel Group, Christian Hempell will be Sonder’s new Vice President of Market Operations in North America.

Along with the new faces, Sonder also had its eyes set on expanding within the Montreal market, having already made a deal with the Quebec government to open a hub within the city.
