The Real Estate Institute of Western Australia, which runs a successful regional property portal of the same name, is to be among the sponsors of a new dedicated annual awards ceremony for Australia's Proptech sector. 21 different awards will be up for grabs at the gala dinner in Sydney in May which is being held by the Proptech Association Australia. Australian Proptech companies will compete in the start-up, scale-up and established supplier categories and are being encouraged to read the documentation and send in applications ahead of the 19th of March closing date.

There is a long history of property portals putting their name to industry awards. In Southeast Asia PropertyGuru has long been associated with the local property awards, even partnering up with ShweProperty to hold a ceremony in Myanmar, a country in which it does not operate a portal in. PropertyGuru's regional rival dotproperty also recently started its own series of awards as a marketing vehicle and in The UK the Estate Agent of the Year Awards were sponsored by Zoopla for 10 years before the agreement came to an end last year.
