A new platform is leveraging students' phone time to create avenues towards potential experience that can go towards resume-building, and focuses on the gig economy.

And this whole gig economy thing works for Saint Joseph's University senior Caitlin Gillard.

"It's nice just to be able to make some extra money," Gillard said.

But more than that, the digital communications major says QuadJobs is helping her get ahead.

"One of the first jobs that I did had to do with social media posting. It's nice to have those little concrete jobs to put on a resume," she said.

The app and website link students to nearby stints as babysitters and dog-walkers, but also as logo designers and social media consultants, and they get to keep all the cash they make.

"I really like it because I do classes full time, as well as an internship. It's nice because I can find them locally and fit them in. Some of them you can also work from home," Gillard explained.

Students get an alert if they fit the criteria of a newly-posted job. Employers get the prospect's "JobGPA," which are performance reviews from past gigs.

While it's new to Philadelphia colleges, QuadJobs counts more than 50,000 student members.
