Property Portal and Marketplace Site Social Media Rankings: North America

October 29, 2020

Last week we looked at the most popular social media accounts for African property portals and found that Facebook was the social media platform of choice. This week we hop right back over the Atlantic to North America.

Social Media Ranking North America 1

Facebook

When it comes to the US market, it’s not surprising who makes it within the ranks. In first place, with the most Facebook clout is Zillow with 2.5 million followers.

Second place is rental platform, Zumper, with 1.1 million followers on its Facebook account. Zumper features both apartment and home rental listings in the US. It doesn’t have the backing of Zillow like StreetEasy, or Apartments.com do, but it has been able to hold its own and made the cut on this list.

Third most popular property portal Facebook account in the States is realtor.com with 1 million followers.

Twitter

With over 363,000 followers, Zillow takes the top spot again when it comes to popularity on Twitter. The portal giant's Twitter follower numbers are a far cry from the following its Facebook account gets, but certainly not to be sniffed at.

Second place is realtor.com which has made its second appearance on this list, this time with more than 245,000 followers on Twitter.

Third place, and probably with the help of being a Zillow brand, is Trulia, a neighborhood-centric portal. Trulia currently has over 190,000 followers on its Twitter account.

LinkedIn

When it comes to LinkedIn, Zillow does not take first place this time. That prize goes to realtor.com with around 226,000 followers, a figure almost as high as that of its Twitter following.

Now taking second place when it comes to popularity on LinkedIn is Zillow, with 117,000 followers.

Finally, in third, is CoStar Group, a platform focused on the commercial real estate market, with around 86,000 followers.
