In order to improve the chances of returning to employment for underserved communities and individuals, France's official government agency for unemployment registration, Pôle emploi, has partnered with the meal charity group Restos du Cœur in a new cooperative agreement.

This partnership aims to strengthen the respective knowledge of both entities in order to develop stronger joint strategies that enable the construction of innovative solutions.

"This partnership demonstrates our common desire to act in favor those individuals furthest from employment. We hope, through this agreement, to restore a relationship of trust and ensure that everyone can access our services to help their return to work," said Jean Bassères, Director General of Pôle emploi.

The initiative will lead to concerted and complementary actions around several axes:

  • Strengthening the mutual knowledge of the two networks and identify synergies and complementarities
  • Publicizing and facilitating access to employment center services for those facing hardships through better articulation of French networks
  • Implementation of innovative actions within French territories, encouraging local contribution to the returning employment.

The three Restos du Cœur networks (Employment Research Support [SRE], Economic Activity Initiative [SIAE], and the Tremplins du Cœur) are expecting to benefit greatly from regular and tight relations with Pôle emploi.

For the Restos du Cœur, a major player in social integration in France, this agreement is part of the continuity of their mission for social cohesion. The association supports nearly 2,500 employees in integration who work in the Structures of Insertion by the Economic Activity (SIAE) and more than 4,000 people in their search for employment.

Patrice Blanc, Volunteer President of the Restos du Cœur, said: "For the people we welcome, finding work seems mostly inaccessible. The support of the Restos volunteers is essential to help them regain their confidence, to remobilize around their professional aspirations and to lift their employment barriers. We must act in tandem, and we need the skills and know-how of Pôle emploi professionals to encourage and facilitate a return to work."
