In the face of hurdles pertaining to the global COVID pandemic, San Francisco-based startup Onerent, is expanding its property management platform into Singapore, joining its Filipino remote operation.

Onerent is lucky in that its operation is based around technology, supporting certain services and features like virtual tours and digital chat capabilities via WhatsApp and apple business chat.

Onerent won’t have an easy time establishing itself as the top of the ladder in these markets. PropertyGuru and 99.co have staked a claim with similar services for the same markets.

Co-Founder of OneRent, Chuck Hattemer, said that Onerent differentiates itself by being backed by Google’s Chief of AI, Jeff Dean. The chat services are unique, as well. Consumers can ask questions about their property, negotiate, and manage contracts all through the chat feature on Onerent, something that many other proptech startups are just not beginning to tap into.

The startup has a number of plans and this expansion into Singapore is just a catalyst for ramping up these goals, one of which being rent rebates.

Hattemer says that the startup is planning on expanding into Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia,  the Philippines, and Vietnam in the near future.
