HousingAnywhere Runs Survey to Gather Data on Traveler Behavior

September 13, 2020

At the beginning of the pandemic, travel was one of the first plans people around the world cut short in preparation for lockdown and social distancing.

But since then, airports have opened up, short-term travel companies have reported that consumers are looking to get away from crowded areas and are beginning to travel again, and even though international travel is harder than usual, that has been picking up as well.

In fact, HousingAnywhere, a Dutch rental marketplace for expats, has run a survey and found that despite COVID worries surrounding travel, more than 65% of international students and young adults are still looking to move abroad.

The survey covered a number of concerns expected of those thinking about traveling to another country and the results were surprising. Where one would expect most people to cut their plans to move abroad due to fear over contracting the novel coronavirus, a majority of younger people are foregoing the anxieties.

That being said, interest in information about a country of destination’s healthcare and travel options to get there are is higher than it was pre-COVID. And those who have ended plans to move abroad, expectedly, mark COVID as the reason.

The findings are interesting. Where one would expect to hold off on moving plans while human contact is the biggest spreading factor of the virus, which we have yet to develop a vaccine for, younger people are eager to continue these plans.
