Home sellers can now efficiently compare buyers and request offers through Simple Sale's growing network of over 100 instant buyers

HomeLight, the platform that empowers people to make smarter decisions when buying or selling a home, today announced the launch of its Simple Sale marketplace. Powered by a growing network of more than 100 instant buyers – or "iBuyers" – Simple Sale lets home sellers and agents compare iBuyers and request competitive instant offers for their properties.

Simple Sale's network of local and national instant buyers – including category leaders Opendoor, Offerpad, We Buy Houses and Roofstock – provides home sellers and agents with the best instant offers for any property. Many homeowners and agents are selling homes to instant buyers because it is faster, simpler and more certain than the traditional listing process.

Simple Sale complements HomeLight's hallmark service as the nation's preeminent agent marketplace for home sellers and buyers. Using proprietary algorithms to analyze millions of real estate transactions, HomeLight connects sellers with top local agents whose skills and experience most closely align with their needs. Since launching in 2010, HomeLight has helped customers list over $10 billion in homes through its platform, helping thousands of home sellers across the U.S.

"We are passionate about ensuring that homeowners receive the best outcome when selling their homes. Our flagship HomeLight agent-matching product was the first of its kind to show agent performance data online and allows sellers and buyers to select the perfect agent for their needs," said J.J. McCarthy, GM of Simple Sale at HomeLight. "With Simple Sale, we're helping home sellers to understand even more of their options, make the best choice for their specific priorities and get the best outcome possible."

Added McCarthy: "The number of iBuyer options has exploded, but home sellers and agents looking for instant offers have been limited to comparing prices through repeated online searches from multiple sources. Through buyer relationships we've established in more than 40 U.S. markets, Simple Sale lets home sellers find the best iBuyer for any home on one platform."

Homeowners interested in selling to an instant buyer using Simple Sale are prompted to enter the home's address and answer a few questions, including home type, condition and desired sale timeline. As the questions are completed, the system narrows down the list of potential buyer matches in real time and produces an instant estimate of the top offers from Simple Sale buyers. Ultimately, matches are made based on instant buyers' pre-set preferences and the specific qualities of the seller's home.

When Simple Sale presents the available instant offers, it also displays a side-by-side comparison of the price the home seller could expect to receive if they choose to list with one of the area's top agents. This presents home sellers with options to make the most informed decision about which process best fits their needs.

Simple Sale provides home sellers and agents with several distinct benefits:

  • For home sellers, Simple Sale is the only platform that estimates the most competitive offers from multiple buyers and compares those offers to the price a seller could expect if they listed with a top local agent. Instant buyers and agents cannot pay to be featured in HomeLight's recommendations, which makes Simple Sale entirely impartial.
  • For agents, Simple Sale will give agents an easy-to-use tool to present instant offers to home sellers, and earn the industry's top commission once the deal closes. The agent offering will be available in March 2019.

As of its public launch in February 2019, Simple Sale has established relationships with buyers in 35 of the top 50 U.S. metropolitan areas, and in more than 11,000 total zip codes across the country. Through this new platform, HomeLight is connecting home sellers with instant buyers offering as much as 95 cents on the dollar for their homes.

"HomeLight's priority has always been to help home sellers make the most informed decision, which today includes listing with an agent and selling to an instant buyer," said McCarthy. "Sellers who are interested in getting the highest price for their home will generally achieve that through the help of a top local agent. However, by presenting all of the options, we're providing home sellers with a more complete spectrum of solutions, and helping them make an informed choice that best fits their timeline and other needs."
