Hemnet Appoints Lisa Farrar as New Chief Operating Officer

June 20, 2023

Leading Swedish real estate company Hemnet has announced the appointment of experienced executive Lisa Farrar as its new Chief Operating Officer.

Farrar, who will begin her role no later than December 20th, has experience across the digital sector including management roles at the likes of veterinary care provider IVC Evidensia, Nordic Choice Hotels and Orbitz/Mr Jet.

"The appointment of a COO marks an important milestone and the next step in Hemnet's commercial journey and continued growth. Lisa's solid experience in digital business development, innovation, and growth in different corporate environments makes her the perfect fit for the mission to further develop Hemnet's core business, strengthen our customer focus, and explore new growth areas," said Cecilia Beck-Friis, CEO of Hemnet.

"Hemnet has a fantastic market position built over its 25-year history, and has taken impressive steps forward in recent years. Despite its prominent position and strong brand, I see significant opportunities for the company to continue developing its existing business and explore new areas. It is a mission I'm really looking forward to, as well as meeting and working together with the rest of the team and becoming part of a culture that has left a very good impression on me," said Lisa Farrar.

Once installed, Farrar's job will be to oversee the product, sales, customer service, and commercial teams at Hemnet.

Since floating on the Stockholm Nasdaq in April 2021, Hemnet's business and share price has grown tremendously, fuelled by the Swedish real estate market's idiosyncratic dynamic.

The company has managed to increase profit on the back of increased depth penetration with vendors, rather than agents, picking up the tab for marketing their homes.

Since March 2020 Edmund's job has been to read about, write about, collect data on, analyse and generally know about real estate marketplaces and the companies that run them. Before that he worked at the aggregator Mitula Group (which became Lifull Connect) for five years.
