According to its annual report released this week, Dutch real estate marketplace Funda.nl achieved double-digit revenue growth in 2023.

Highlights for the market leader include:

  • Revenue increased by 12.7% year-on-year to €49.8 million (USD 53.3 million)
  • 2023 net profits were €14.7 million (USD 15.7 million)
  • The profit margin for 2023 was 29.5%
  • This, despite a decline of 7500+ listings on Funda's platform during the year

Joost Dop, CEO at Funda.nl, commented that ongoing housing shortages and a difficult mortgage market slowed down the Dutch market last year.

Meanwhile, General Atlantic's recent acquisition of 24% of the company will accelerate Funda's ability to strengthen its position as the market leader in 2024 and beyond. General Atlantic already has stakes with European portals including Hemnet, Immoweb and ImoScout24.

Dop said:

"The housing market is facing major challenges, and we want to make a difference where we can.

We are therefore pleased that, with the support of our new shareholder General Atlantic, we can achieve our goals more quickly from 2024. We have found a shareholder with broad technological experience. Their innovative strength and knowledge of the sector help us serve consumers and brokers even better.

"With General Atlantic and the vision and knowledge of the real estate market from NVM, we will continue to build our position as the leading housing platform in the Netherlands in 2024."

A probe into Funda regarding a conflict between groups of shareholders in the business was settled and terminated in February.
