The numbers speak for themselves: according to a study by KfW, around 150,000 companies in Germany are looking for a successor by the end of 2020. Up to 50% of them have yet to source a suitable candidate. The gap between supply and demand will only increase, and much of the problem seems to come from demographic developments that create challenges particularly for family businesses.
In order to support entrepreneurs more comprehensively, the HDE (The German Retail Federation) and DUB.de have partnered for a new collaborate effort and initiative. DUB.de, the largest private marketplace for corporate sales, offers an unbeatable reach to potential buyers and successors, and HDE members will now be able to post advertisements on DUB.de at special rates.
In the first half of 2019 alone, 97% of the advertisements at DUB.de received viable contacts.
"Family businesses, especially in retail, are increasingly faced with the challenge of looking for a successor outside of the family," explains Nicolas Rädecke, Managing Partner of the German Business Exchange DUB.de. He adds, "Interested parties will find a suitable successor on DUB.de, and find a suitable industry integration through the HDE. We complement each other perfectly."
The German Retail Federation (HDE) is the leading organization in the German retail sector. The HDE represents trade interests vis-à-vis politics, other business sectors and the public. In Germany, 300,000 retail businesses with three million employees at 450,000 locations generate a turnover of over 500 billion euros annually.
In addition to the search for potential company successors or interesting offers to buy via the DUB.de company exchange, it is also possible to find advice on different successor models, tax aspects and numerous other points with the help of the integrated consultant exchange.
