1US, the veteran’s job portal, recently announced that Dan Mangru is joining its Advisory Board to further its cause of expanding opportunities for veteran employment.
“There’s an old saying. If you don’t want to stand behind a veteran, try standing in front of one. Our veterans have not only performed a public service which we all benefit from, but they are highly trained, sophisticated, and experienced in adverse situations and problem solving,” said Mangru.
Mangru has previously supported other veterans jobs programs including CareerSource Florida Veteran’s Job Fairs, and Operation Hire Our Heroes amongst others. He has also supported other veterans causes including the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund, which provides college scholarships to the children of fallen military heroes.
1US has built a platform that connects veteran job seekers with employers. However, 1US allows veterans to post a video resume that helps them stand out to employers with a more human connection than a simple on paper resume.
1US seeks to empower veterans during their transition from the military to civilian life. The 1US slogan is “Armed with Opportunity”, which is designed to communicate that all veterans need is opportunities to showcase how much they can be of value to the job force.
With more US Service men and women returning from deployment the pool of veteran job seekers continue to grow.
“During these economic times, it might be convenient to think that veterans would have an easy time finding a career. However as more veterans come home, the need actually becomes greater for transition assistance, and career retraining and placement. The goal for veteran unemployment should be 0%. Every veteran who comes home should have the opportunity to find gainful employment and create a stable and rewarding life,” further commented Mangru.
1US will also be partnering with other organizations to expand access to employment opportunities and host job fairs for companies seeking to connect with veterans.
In addition to Mangru’s involvement with various veterans groups, he is on the board for Best Buddies Palm Beach, a charity founded by Anthony Kennedy Shriver for children with IDD (Intellectual and Development Disabilities), as well as his alma mater Florida Atlantic University, previously serving on the board for the College of Business.
