Binance-backed TravelbyBit launches beta app to allow cryptocurrency payments for hotel, flight bookings

July 9, 2019

TravelByBit, a company that enables its users to book hotels and flights via cryptocurrencies, has launched the beta version of its app.

Users of the Binance Chain-backed platform can now use Bitcoin (BTC), Litecoin (LTC), and Binance Coin (BNB) to book more than 1 million flights and hotels.

The collaboration between the two firms was first announced last October 2018, after Binance invested $2.5 million in the Australian startup to help scale up operations and create more jobs in Queensland. As previously reported, Binance and TravelbyBit aim to introduce a global point-of-sale (POS) payment system by introducing blockchain technology into major airports globally.

In a December blog post, TravelbyBit CEO Caleb Yeoh described the partnership of the two firms as a “good fit.”

Crypto is a social movement and Binance has allowed us to keep TravelbyBit focused on the community,” Yeoh said. “I believe that protecting privacy is the key to a free and democratic society, and CZ believes increasing freedom makes the world a better place. This brings our organizations into close alignment.

Just recently, bitcoin rewards shopping platform Lolli has formed a new partnership with major booking service Hotels.com, which aims to see global travelers earn up to 3.5% bitcoin back from purchases made on the Lolli website.
