The results are in for the top-requested professions of March 2019. Where were the most jobs available for young candidates? In which sectors were the best opportunities for executives? And which occupational groups were very popular with the personnel service providers? The current BAP Job Navigator provides answers to this question. It analyzed more than 1.16 million vacancies advertised in March 2019. The results show that companies are increasingly relying on the professional support of temp agencies when looking for specific occupational groups, such as in health professions.

Crafts and technical occupations in the temporary employment industry in high demand

With 33%, the occupational groups Craft and Technical occupations accounted for a third of all jobs advertised in March. If one considers the temporary work agencies alone, then this share was even 42%. According to this data, the HR service providers offered around 176,674 jobs in construction and trades as well as 146,244 jobs in the technical professions. The largest job offer in the craft sector was directed at mechanics (29,717 jobs) and electric technicians (28,281 jobs). Within the tech industry, there were many various jobs for engineers (19,000 jobs), especially for service technicians (3,709 jobs) and development engineers (2,269 jobs) which contained a high number of vacancies.

Sales and sales personnel most frequently in demand from companies

While temporary work agencies focused on HR and tech jobs, companies were looking for sales and sales personnel themselves (91,540 jobs). The Occupational Group Construction and Craft (87,492 jobs) followed in second place, with technical occupations (86,876 jobs) in third place.

For comparison: the HR service providers wrote four percent fewer jobs in sales (60,630 jobs). In third place of the personnel service providers, jobs from the transport, transport and logistics sector (68,140 jobs) were well ahead of the rest.

Increased demand in health, medicine and social affairs

While 28,133 jobs in health, medical and social care were available in March of last year, in March 2019 there were more than 33,000 jobs - an increase of 18 percentage points. In particular, temporary employment agencies were increasingly on the lookout (+24%). For comparison: the demand of the companies themselves only increased by 16%.

"Due to the acute shortage of skilled workers, especially in the health and care sector, more and more companies rely on the professional support of temporary employment agencies - a development that we have clearly noticed in recent years and which is now confirmed by the numbers," emphasizes Thomas Hetz, Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Employers' Association of Personnel Service Providers (BAP).

Professionals have the best chances in consulting and counseling

The demand for junior consultants with more than 1,400 job advertisements (53 percent) was particularly strong. Most of these jobs were IT consulting services. But the field of marketing and PR also offered a relatively large amount of job offers for career starters (1,617 jobs). The fewest vacancies were available for newcomers to the occupational categories health, medicine, and social affairs (279 jobs), transport, transport and logistics (355 jobs) as well as construction and crafts (400 jobs).

By contrast, executives were offered the most positions in their typical occupational groups organization and project management (53,160 jobs) as well as management and management (21,891 jobs). With more than 5,000 jobs each, the areas of research and development (6,274 jobs) and consulting (5,732 jobs) offered ample opportunity.
