Avito has been crowned Russia's best real estate app for buying, selling and researching property by the Russian government's quality appraisals agency, Roskachestvo.

Avito came out on top of a list of names including Cian and Yandex Realty after Roskachestvo tested apps in a mystery shopping exercise for six major marketplaces by Roskachestvo’s Center for Digital Expertise.

Avito's app rated best for nearly 250 criteria including convenience, functionality, and security on both iOS and Android, edging out Cian in second place, with Yandex in third.

The other tested apps were Domclick, Etagi and M2:

APPLICATION IOS rating ANDROID rating
Avito 4.5 4.6
Cian 4.5 4.6
Yandex Realty 4.4 4.5
Domclick 4.4 4.3
M2.ru 4.3 4.4
Etagi 4.1 4.3

Roskachestvo also found that Avito's app had the largest database of ads in the secondary housing market (154,000+), that it came second only to Cian for newly built homes (215,500 vs. Cian's 242,000), and that Avito was the most responsive at moderating untrustworthy listings.

Roskachestvo also observed that each of the six apps had access to an inordinate amount of personal information and data about individual users and that 61% of people have foregone the services of real estate agents in favour of apps.
