AI-Based Job Matching Platform, Adnexio, Opens Beta in Malaysia

February 18, 2019

Rafizi Ramli, the Founder of data firm Invoke and Vice President of PKR, has completed a preliminary version of a job matching platform built on the back of artificial intelligence (AI) for Malaysia.

Ramli said:

“We have developed the beta version of artificial intelligence job matching system that we call adnexio. Adnexio means ‘connecting’ in Latin, to illustrate its AI capabilities to link employers and job seekers. Adnexio is an ecosystem that connects employers and prospective job seekers. Candidates will go through an interview with a machine named NEX on this AI platform.”

Discussing the project, Ramli released a press statement detailing how things came to fruition in September of 2018 alongside a team of developers and data experts working towards birthing an AI specifically geared toward tackling the obstacles of unemployment and human capital growth in Malaysia.

During the general election he additionally noted that SMEs were approaching numerous hurdles in meeting their workforce needs, citing issues with applicants simply not being up to par in terms of prerequisites like education or skills. On the other hand, candidates expressed little enthusiasm for working with SMEs, and mentioned an information deficit on jobs in general on the market. The conclusion? Applying to the same places (large corporations or the government) and creating unnecessary competition.

That's where adnexio comes in.

AI NEX, their flagship product, was designed to manage and hold interviews with candidates while assessing their qualities, tailored to the employers' needs.

Ramli explained:

“When employers advertise vacancies using this platform (for free, as opposed to the current industry practice that charges employers for advertising vacancies), NEX will match each job vacancy with candidates with the best-fit score (because of the candidates’ matching education background, skills, work experience and other qualities that are in line with employer’s requirements).

“adnexio will refer the top candidates (between three to seven of the best-fit candidates) for employers to consider. This approach helps employers in two ways: it removes the hassle of the recruitment process because only the best candidates are proposed to the employer (NEX has done the pre-screening and preliminary interview).

“Secondly, employers can source from a lot bigger pool of talents because NEX considers the whole population of the job market for each vacancy (not from a small number of candidates who apply directly for a specific vacancy)."

In short, Ramli is happy to encourage anyone with an internet-accessible device to try out "the biggest interview in Malaysian history".
