Spotahome Ranks Web Traffic Among European Rent Portals

Spotahome, the Madrid-based rentals portal, has declared itself optimistic about the future of the rentals market in the UK with traffic increasing for the past seven weeks. The company has done some research on listings numbers on the major portals as well as some comparison across European cities and property portal traffic across the continent. The full league table of results can be found here.

The rentals specialist, whose business model involves marketing and pre-checking rental properties as well as dealing with landlords on behalf of tenants, expects to see its digital business model flourish. The platform has long been a pioneer of the digitised transaction and has long been ahead of the curve in terms of marketing properties with videos.

Spotahome UK Director, Jack Kuecker was quoted as saying:

“Our foundation as a business has always facilitated a completely digital approach to renting. However, it’s highly likely that the events of the last few months will now act as a catalyst within the property sector, accelerating the digitalisation seen over previous years and evolving industry practices to operate on an almost completely digital basis.”

Other players may be looking to the Spotahome model to change how they do business. Less contact is definitely the way to go nowadays, and although Spotahome primarily caters to students and young professionals, we may see the idea of the contactless rental gain traction among other demographics.
