Brits Desperate for Gardens as Rental Market Picks Up

If, like some of us, you’ve been stuck in a tiny inner-city apartment for the duration of lockdown then the latest news from UK portal Rightmove will come as no surprise. Searches for rental properties with a garden are 16% higher than the average from January and February and are 26% up on this week last year.

As for the UK rental market as a whole, Rightmove claims that although traffic numbers are still down, they are on the mend and are now only 20% down on normal levels. As for stock levels, these are up 2.6% as agents re-list properties.

As we reported last week, “garden” has traditionally been a popular search keyword for UK house hunters and it looks like the confinement of recent weeks has only added to the British desire to be outdoors.
