Today we at Online Marketplaces received a press release from Australian portal operating company REA Group celebrating the fact that the Newscorp owned company had been ranked 4th in the Large Company category in the Australian Great Place to Work Awards 2021.
As CEO Owen Wilson said in that press release: "Being named Australia’s fourth Best Workplace in the large company category is something all of our people can be proud of. Each and every one of REA’s employees contribute to what makes our organisation special,”
As tech companies, property portals are in constant competition to attract the best talent to build the best product and their reputation as an employer is something that many of them take seriously.
US market-leader Zillow has also been vocal about the ratings it gets and has sent out press releases to journalists celebrating its "policies and benefits that ensure equality, flexibility and support for employees and their families". For a company whose CEO Rich Barton also co-founded employer review platform Glassdoor we would expect nothing less.
All of this sparked some curiosity as to how these flagship property portal companies are rated by their employees. With the change in working behaviour seen since the onset of the pandemic, employee satisfaction has never been more important.
The table below are scores taken from Glassdoor for 15 of the largest property portal firms in the world. REA Group and Zillow do indeed score highly with their employees but are both pipped to the top spot by Domain among portals with at least 10 reviews online.
