CEO of Nextdoor, Sarah Friar, went on stage at the Inman Connect New York 2019 and discussed how to rebuild trust in social media and how agents need to be experts in their neighborhoods.
Sarah Friar offered agents advice on how to use her company’s neighborhood-based social network to generate leads on the main stage at the Inman Connect 2019 conference in New York on Wednesday.
Social media is going through it’s own “mini nightmare,” according to Friar, who joined the company two months ago from red hot payments startup Square.
Now she’s hoping her new platform, which was founded in 2008, is able to restore the public’s trust in social media.
“How do we get people from online….but get them offline and bring the humanity back into the world, where we’re not stuck behind a screen, where we’re meeting each other in person?” Friar asked.
“None of us know how to talk anymore,” said fellow panelist Katie Kossev, managing broker of Intero Real Estate. “I feel like there’s such a disconnect in sales and general relationships.”
Nextdoor has an online advertising product for real estate agents known as “neighborhood sponsorships,” in which agents can pay to have their face and information appear to users in the real estate section of a given neighborhood on Nextdoor’s app and website.
