Zoopla Founder brings board Finance Chief of a gambling giant to Cazoo

The former Finance Chief of gambling giant Paddy Power Betfair is poised to join a second-hand car start-up led by the Founder of Zoopla.

Alex Gersh, who was Finance Director of Betfair before overseeing the merger with Paddy Power that transformed it into a FTSE 100 company, is set to take the same position at Cazoo, the latest brainchild of Alex Chesterman.

Cazoo will sell refurbished cars online, deliver them to customers’ homes within 48 hours and offer a seven-day free returns policy.

Chesterman, 49, founded and ran Zoopla until it was sold in a £2.2 billion deal to American private equity firm Silver Lake last year. His latest venture has raised more than £30 million from backers, including the publisher of the Daily Mail.
