Fintech leader Kontist launches new platform to support freelancers

Kontist, Germany's first provider of mobile banking services for the self-employed, has recently announced the debut of the Kontist Foundation. 

The foundation, initiated by Kontist CEO Christopher Plantener and entrepreneur Catharina Bruns, pursues the mission of representing and supporting the self-employed in an innovative and contemporary manner. The aim of the operative foundation model is to promote a culture of self-employment. It is aimed not only at the self-employed in Germany, but also at all those who want to work differently and are interested in freelance. The Kontist Foundation would like to reach target groups who independently make a valuable contribution to economic life, but have not yet had sufficient representation of interests or do not feel that they are represented.

The corporate foundation by FinTech is so far unique in Germany. In a modern working world characterized by flexibility and a desire for individual development, the Kontist Foundation advocates a change of mentality for the proactive promotion and appreciation of citizen entrepreneurship and a vibrant start-up culture in Germany.

The foundation's work focuses on four topics. The establishment of a strong online and offline community, under the motto "self-employed help self-employed people", should contribute decisively to knowledge transfer and bundling of competencies among the self-employed. Selected personalities from the foundation will also represent the purpose of the foundation in politics and the media with their specialist expertise. The support of entrepreneurship skills in the education system plays a key role. By disseminating knowledge about practical content to schools, the Kontist Foundation wants to contribute to a new start-up culture, in which each individual, regardless of his or her social background, sees themselves as a future designer and later consciously selects his or her own job and actively participates in the economy.

The foundation's chairmanship is taken on by entrepreneur Catharina Bruns, known for her long-standing commitment to entrepreneurship: "In the context of the 'New Work' debate, we talk too little about the opportunities for self-employment and new working concepts in the knowledge society. Entrepreneurship is future competence."

Christopher Plantener, CEO and founder of Kontist comments on the birth of the foundation: "I have been following the idea of ​​self-employed advocacy for a long time. Nevertheless, I first wanted to bring the self-employed account on the market. At the same time my idea became more concrete and the founding of Kontist brought me together with Catharina. I am pleased that we are now launching the Kontist Foundation together. The idea of ​​the foundation is a consistent continuation of Kontist's mission: We support the self-employed - and we are committed to more recognition of their working environment."
