Many organizations are choosing VR to increase the effectiveness of the training in their work templates. For example, workers in high-risk fields such as manufacturing or energy, are now learning with VR how to reduce the risk of injuries and errors that involve high losses.
Other industries, such as the health sector, are relying on VR to train medical processes and to reproduce situations that would otherwise be impossible to practice. And simulation is just the beginning of this transforming trend.
According to a Tractica study, the global market for the use of VR hardware and software by companies is expected to grow from $1 billion in 2018 to $12.6 billion in 2025. Earlier this year, Facebook announced the new Oculus for Business platform aimed at making it easier for companies to use virtual reality helmets, including the Oculus Quest, at work.
As the use of virtual reality in the workplace extends, two of the biggest challenges for companies are the ability to easily monitor the use of VR in a learning context and to be able to measure the effect it has on the employee performance. Today, many organizations are forced to rely on the manual introduction of data and spreadsheets to capture and analyze the impact of their most innovative training content.
Under the agreement, Cornerstone will work with Oculus for Business to allow its customers in common to track virtual reality training sessions directly from Cornerstone Learning Management System. This functionality allows them to access immediate information about who is using their virtual reality content and how this content influences employee performance results.
Companies like Nestlé have already proven the value of this technology.
“Nestlé employees deserve the best immersive training experience possible thanks to virtual reality and ensuring that we can track the completion of training is a critical measure for our business operations,” says Jo-Anne Rossouw, Head of Digital Learning, Nestlé.
