OYO Registers 2.7 times bookings in 2019 in wake of protests

The Oyo protests run by hotels owners against the Indian short-term accommodation giant in 2019, have yet to change the market. 

Not only the company’s business remained unaffected, but it also recorded a 2.7X jump in the number of bookings in comparison to 2018.

According to Oyo’s Annual Travel Index 2019, five Oyo rooms were booked globally every second. Further, the company highlighted that it had an average booking of five lakh (100,000) users in a single day.

Among the states, Uttar Pradesh (UP) got the maximum number of bookings from Oyo. UP was followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka. It is to be noted here that Oyo Registers 2.7X Bookings in 2019 Amid Hotel Owners’ Rising Dissent at Karnataka received the highest number of bookings in 2018.

In the rankings of cities, which received the highest number of bookings, Delhi retained its top spot in 2019 as well. Delhi was followed by Hyderabad and Bangalore in recording the maximum number of bookings within the first 10 days of every month in 2019. Moreover, Delhi was also the most- searched destination in 2019.

Interestingly, the index highlighted that Oyo, in 2019, witnessed the maximum number of bookings on August 9. Additionally, it said that 11 AM emerged as the most popular time to book an Oyo.
