Former Apple Design Head Joins Airbnb

October 21, 2020

Airbnb has seen its fair share of obstacles within the last couple of years but the company hasn’t given up yet. As the pandemic all but eviscerated the travel industry for a couple of months, Airbnb had taken measures to cut costs and wait until the smoke settled.

One such move has been the hiring of a former Apple design head, Jony Ive, who has only just recently left the tech giant last year to start his own firm, LoveFrom.

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said:

"Jony and his partners at LoveFrom will be engaging in a special collaboration with me and the Airbnb team. We have made the decision to work together through a multi-year relationship to design the next generation of Airbnb products and services."

This is another step in building up Airbnb’s internal design team as it gears up for an IPO it’s been planning for quite some time.

Ive is most known for his help in leading the product launches of the iMac in 1998, the iPhone in 2007, and the Apple Watch in 2014.
