It’s no secret that the short-term accommodation sector was hit particularly hard by the pandemic. One company has given up on the fight and is switching gears to software development as its boss redirects his expertise to match the current market climate.
Airbnb-backed short-term apartment rental startup, Lyric, is shutting its doors after it finalizes switching its last location to its competition, Mint House.
CEO and Founder, Andrew Kitchell, says that he’s switching his attention to a hospitality software company he started back in 2014. Called Wheelhouse, this startup focuses on short-term rental operators instead of the properties, themselves.
Kitchell assured that the Lyric operations will be handed over to Mint House seamlessly, along with its best properties and team members.
This isn’t the only accommodation startup that’s had to shutter up because of the pandemic. Back in September, we reported on HubHaus, which was hit hard because of lockdown orders and quarantine.
