The French challenger portal EtreProprio claims that it has overtaken rivals SeLoger (owned by AVIV Group) and Leboncoin (Adevinta) in terms of listings volumes from professionals.
The Toulouse-based portal claims that thanks to its freemium listing model it has amassed nearly 700k total property listings with 17,000 agents choosing to list on its platform. A quick check of leading portals in France on Friday morning revealed that EtreProprio's listings volumes (693k) were indeed greater than SeLoger's (599k) and Leboncoin's (667k). However, Online Marketplaces could not independently verify duplicate volumes.
Philippe Bernou, EtreProprio's CEO, claims that the portal's freemium business model is what sets it apart from the competition in the French market.
"Our platform offers free listings, which has significantly contributed to our popularity among professionals. Our business model is based on providing a comprehensive and accessible platform that covers all aspects of real estate transactions through our extensive network of more than 1,500 local partners (mortgage, insurance, moving, energy renovation, etc)."
We also offer innovative visibility packages with enhanced features, allowing agencies to optimize their online presence and impact. As a result, more than 17,000 agencies now list directly with us."
The French market is becoming increasingly competitive. SeLoger, the leading pure real estate vertical in the market, recently decided to risk the anger of its agents by ditching its policy of more than 20 years to only allow listings from professionals on its site.
