Joiners, leavers, the employment merry-go-round continues to revolve in earnest. Here are three stories we've spotted this week...
Italian iBuyer Casavo has lost its Head of Marketplace with the resignation of Victoria Weidemann after three years at the company.
Interestingly, Weidemann's LinkedIn post announcing her resignation mentioned how she will use her time off to focus on writing her second book (her first appears to be a study of Austrian writer Hermann Broch!).
Back on topic, Casavo last year announced that it would pause its iBuying activity for the time being, instead pivoting to focus on its mortgage brokerage business. The firm lost €53M in 2022 and exited the Portuguese market in February 2023 just 13 months after a €100M expansion.
Philipp Busse has been named the new head of UX design at Adevinta, joining from its subsidiary business, the German marketplace Kleinanzeigen.
As part of his new role, Busse will oversee Adevinta brands including Leboncoin, Subito, Marktplaats, InfoJobs, Milanuncios, Fotocasa—and previous employer Kleinanzeigen.
Kevin Gormand, the founder of the Moroccan market leader Mubawab Group, has appointed himself Chairman of the Group as part of a wider management reshuffle.
In a post on LinkedIn, Gorman said:
"For my part, I am now taking on a new role: Chairman of the Group, where my objective is to ensure the cohesion of the different entities and to ensure the achievement of the vision that we all share: 'make the buyer smarter'."
The reshuffle also sees CTO Abderra El Haitout manage Mubawab IT Services; Zineb Bouayad takes charge at Mubawab Morocco; and Anis Gharbie takes charge of Mubawab Tunisia.
