Former iBuying rivals Zillow and Opendoor have announced that they have expanded their partnership to 11 more markets across the United States.
Having begun in February in Atlanta and Raleigh and been expanded to Houston, Dallas and Phoenix in March, the project is now live in 16 local markets, mostly across the country's so-called 'sun-belt'.
The partnership between Zillow, which exited the iBuying business in 2021 after spectacular losses, and specialist iBuyer Opendoor allows the portal's users to see what their home might be worth using the Zestimate tool before either connecting with one of Zillow's Premier Agents or selling through Opendoor.
The partnership between the two former rivals has raised a few eyebrows in the industry with some, such as industry veteran Brad Inman, suggesting that Zillow might be trying out Opendoor before buying the business or perhaps that the deal between the two already includes some sort of equity share.
